GoSmart APN Setup

Note: Settings for both Android phones and iPhone OS are included below. Choose the correct steps for your phone's software platform.

Standard Settings

Quality of Service (QoS) QoS setting is configured by the GoSmart network.
QoS setting defaults to three.
Changing the QoS setting on the handset does not affect the connection.
Peak rate and mean rate are also automatically set by the GoSmart network.

Check mobile network settings and reset APN on Android phones

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
2. Touch Settings.
3. Touch Wireless & Networks, or Wireless Controls.
     Note: Actual option name depends on software version.
4. Verify that the Airplane Mode or Flight Mode check box is cleared.
5. If you see a Mobile Network check box, verify it is selected.
6. Touch Mobile Networks.
7. If you see the following check boxes, verify they are selected:

  • Data Enabled
  • Use Packet Data
  • Data Roaming.
    Note: This incurs charges if you roam internationally.
8. Touch Access Point Names or APNs.
9. Press the Menu key.
10. Touch Reset to default.
11. Press the Home key.
12. Test the data connection and access the web to verify it is working correctly.

13. If these steps did not resolve the issue and you still cannot access the web, proceed to Verify and update the APN settings.

Verify and update the APN settings on Android phones
Important: A master reset will restore the APN Settings to the default settings.

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
2. Touch Settings.
3. Touch Wireless & Networks or Wireless Controls.
     Note: Depends on software version.
4. Touch Mobile Networks.
5. Touch Access Point Names or APNs.
6. If there is a GoSmart (or T-Mobile) APN, touch it. If not, press the Menu key, and touch New APN.
7. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:

  • Name: GoSmart (or T-Mobile)
  • APN: multibrand
  • Proxy: 
  • Port: 
  • Username: 
  • Password: 
  • Server: 
  • MMSC:
  • MMS proxy: 
  • MMS port: 
  • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0 (Most phones do not have this field)
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 260
  • Authentication type: 
  • APN type: default,supl,mms
    Important: The APN type must be entered EXACTLY as shown.
8. Press the Menu key.
9. Touch Save.
10. In the list of APNs, delete all others that appear if possible.
      Exception: Do not delete the FOTA APN.

To delete an APN, follow these steps:

  • Touch the APN you want to delete.
  • Press the Menu key.
  • Touch Delete APN.
11. Select to activate the GoSmart or T-Mobile APN with the correct settings. A green circle will indicate it is activated.
12. Turn the phone off and back on.

13. Test the data connection and access the web to verify it is working correctly. If not, repeat steps above to edit the APN to set the APN type to .

iPhone Settings
To setup GoSmart Mobile Internet and picture messaging on your iPhone, follow these steps:

1. From the main menu, tap Settings.
2. Tap General.
3. Tap Network.
     Note: For iOS6, tap Cellular.
4. Verify the following settings:

  • Data Roaming: On
  • Wi-Fi: Off
  • 3G Enable: Off
    Note: Changing the 3G Enable function while the phone is on an active call may cause the call to disconnect. iPhones will not be able to connect to 3G data due to incompatibility with portions of the GoSmart Mobile Network.
5. Tap Cellular Data Network.
     Note:These settings can only be added to an unlocked iPhone. If you do not see the settings listed below, the iPhone is not unlocked. GoSmart Mobile does not offer assistance with unlocking an iPhone.

6. Configure the internet settings under the Cellular Data section:

  • APN: multibrand
  • Username: 
  • Password: 

7. Configure the picture message settings under the MMS section:

  • APN: multibrand
  • Username: 
  • Password: 
  • MMSC:
  • MMS Proxy: (Leave blank for 4S)
  • MMS Max Message Size: 1048576 (Leave blank for 4S)
  • MMS UA Prof URL:
8. Press the Home button.

9. Verify MMS is enabled:

  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Messages.
  • Set MMS Messaging to On.
  • For iOS5 and lower, tap MMS first.
10. Turn the phone off and back on.
11. Test the connection by opening the Safari web browser and sending a picture message.
